Summers wins Callao mayor’s race; school board and fire district seats decided

Suzanne Summers was elected mayor of Callao in Tuesday’s municipal election, receiving 30 of 32 votes cast, with two write-in ballots, according to unofficial results from the Macon County Clerk’s office.

In the Callao alderman race, two seats were available among three candidates. Christie Nolte led with 23 votes, followed by Craig Gorham at 19 and Andrew Benton at 14. Nolte and Gorham hold the top two positions based on unofficial totals.

The Callao Fire Protection District board seat drew no filed candidates. All 53 votes were cast as write-ins.

On the Callao C-8 School Board, with three seats available, Aimee Miller and Kara Stucki tied for the lead at 89 votes each, followed by Hannah Roberts at 87. Toni Watson trailed with 28 votes. Miller, Stucki, and Roberts take the three seats based on unofficial totals.

All results are unofficial pending certification by the Macon County Clerk.
