A Brookfield woman died Friday morning in a three-vehicle crash on U.S. 36 about a mile east of Macon, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.
The crash happened at 6:56 a.m. The driver of an eastbound Jeep Wrangler, a 50-year-old Brookfield woman, was pronounced dead at the scene at 7 a.m. The report lists her safety-device use as unknown. The Jeep had total damage.
A 68-year-old Franklin, Ohio, man driving an eastbound Chevrolet Express van had serious injuries. Macon County Ambulance took him to University Hospital in Columbia. A 4-year-old boy in the van had minor injuries. Ambulance crews took him to Samaritan Hospital in Macon. The report lists safety devices in use for both people in the van. The van had total damage.
A 46-year-old Davenport, Florida, man was driving a northbound Freightliner truck tractor. The report lists minor damage to that vehicle and says a safety device was in use. It does not list an injury for that driver.
The patrol wrote that the truck crossed eastbound traffic while attempting a left turn. The Jeep and the van struck the truck's towed unit.
Trooper Riley of the patrol investigated. The Macon County Sheriff's Department, the Macon Police Department, Macon County Fire and Rescue, ambulance crews, and the Macon Rural Fire Department assisted, according to the report.
