Several residents from Macon County and surrounding areas have filed to run in the upcoming Missouri primary election scheduled for August 4, 2026, according to the certification released by Missouri Secretary of State Denny Hoskins.
Local candidates appear on the Republican, Democratic, and Libertarian party ballots for a variety of offices including state auditor, U.S. representative for District 6, state senator for District 18, state representative for District 6, as well as Macon County offices such as associate circuit judge, recorder of deeds, county treasurer, collector of revenue, prosecuting attorney, circuit clerk, county clerk, and presiding commissioner.
Among Republican candidates with local ties are:
– Kristen Burks of Macon, running for associate circuit judge
– Kristen Harvey of Atlanta, seeking recorder of deeds
– Krista Bruno and Chelsea October Rice, both of Macon, running for county treasurer
– Rhonda Anno of Excello, Sue Gladbach of Bevier, and Dana Halstead of La Plata, candidates for county collector of revenue
– Josh Meisner of Macon, running for county prosecuting attorney
– Twila L. Halley-Osborn of Atlanta, candidate for circuit clerk
– Tammy Perkins of Macon, running for county clerk
– Dean Still of Macon, seeking presiding commissioner
Macon County township committee candidates include Republican Aaron Baker (Lyda Township), Shirley Sims (Hudson Township), Twila L. Halley-Osborn and Harold Osborn (Independence Township), Krista Bruno and Kristen Harvey (Lyda and Eagle Townships).
Democratic candidates from the local area include Robert Johnson of Moberly for state representative District 6 and several township committee candidates such as Kay Watson from Bevier (Liberty Township), Glenda Schroeder of Atlanta (Independence Township), and multiple Macon residents running for committee positions across several townships including Hudson, Ten Mile, La Plata, Bevier, Lyda, and Round Grove.
Libertarian candidates with local ties include John Davison of La Plata running for state representative District 6 and for Macon County committeeman for La Plata Township.
The Secretary of State’s certification includes the official list of candidates along with their addresses and party affiliations. The primary election will determine which candidates advance to the general election later in 2026.
