Maples Repertory Theatre opens The Rocky Horror Show on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the Royal Theatre in downtown Macon, with performances through Oct. 24.
The musical has book, music, and lyrics by Richard O'Brien, according to the theater's show page. Performances are at 102 N. Rubey St.
The theater describes the cult classic as a loving tribute to the science fiction and horror B movies of the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s, with a rock-and-roll score. Sweethearts Brad and Janet stumble onto the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, who is about to unveil his ultimate creation, the perfect muscleman Rocky. The household of kitschy, eccentric, gothic characters, and the audience, sing and dance through the evening until it is revealed they are not of this earth, the show page says.
The company invites patrons to "rat your hair, apply lipstick, slip on your fishnets and 'Let's do the Time Warp again!'"
