Nonprofits in Macon and eight neighboring counties can seek up to $1,000 in third-quarter Operation Round Up grants from the Macon Electric Foundation by Sept. 28.
The foundation said its online grant form is not working. Applicants should use the Foundation Grant Application link on the Macon Electric Cooperative website, complete the form, and send it to Lindsey Howell. The foundation's page lists no direct phone number or email address for Howell; applicants with questions can call the cooperative at 660-385-3157.
The foundation said its volunteer board reviews grant applications quarterly. Its mission covers charitable purposes in Adair, Chariton, Knox, Linn, Macon, Monroe, Randolph, Shelby, and Sullivan counties.
The foundation is primarily funded through Operation Round Up, in which participating Macon Electric Cooperative members and customers of Public Water Supply District No. 1 of Macon County round up their monthly electric or water bills to the next dollar. The cooperative said it covers the program's administrative costs, so donated money goes directly to community assistance.
