Two Kirksville women injured in deer crash north of Macon

Two Kirksville women suffered minor injuries early Friday when their car struck a deer on U.S. Highway 63 north of Macon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the crash at 12:15 a.m. July 10, about two miles north of Macon. A northbound 2019 Hyundai driven by a 34-year-old Kirksville woman struck the deer, ran off the west side of the roadway and hit a fence and a fiber-optic pedestal, according to the patrol.

The driver and a 40-year-old passenger, also of Kirksville, were both wearing safety devices and were taken by private vehicle to Northeast Regional Hospital with minor injuries. The Hyundai sustained extensive damage and was towed by Stills Wrecker.

Trooper Harrison of Troop B investigated, assisted by the Macon County Sheriff’s Department.
